Thomas Manoury

Thomas Manoury (1979, Paris). French-Icelandic composer and musician. As a multi-instrumentalist, he specialises in wind instruments and electroacoustics. He has been developing his own interfaces and programming interactive tools allowing a great freedom of interpretation. Under the moniker KverK, he produces immersive music, multichannel diffusion as well as real-time sampling and processing of acoustic sounds. While exploring sound materials, he creates his music in an instinctive and spontaneous way, with a very singular touch.

Thomas Manoury (1979, Paris). Compositeur et musicien Franco-Islandais. Multi-instrumentiste, il se spécialise dans les instruments à vent et l’électroacoustique. Il développe ses propres interfaces et programme des outils interactifs permettant une grande liberté de jeu. Sous le pseudonyme KverK, il propose une musique immersive, diffusée en multiphonie et basée sur l'échantillonnage et le traitement en temps réel de sons acoustiques. Tout en explorant les matières sonores, il crée sa musique de façon instinctive et spontanée, avec une sensibilité très personnelle.

Soundtrains / 2013

Soundtrains is an electroacoustic piece composed with sounds of Tibetan bowls, componium, ocarina, glockenspiel and string orchestra... The sounds are sampled, processed, and transformed until they become unrecognizable. Thus, rich sound palettes are created with unexpected harmonies spread over the entire sound spectrum. The atmosphere is quiet and solemn, the pace slow and organic. With a tension producing a cinematic suspense.

Soundtrains est une pièce électroacoustique composée à partir de sons de bols tibétains, componium, ocarina, glockenspiel et orchestre à cordes... Les sons sont échantillonnés, travaillés, transformés, à en devenir méconnaissables. Ainsi sont créées des palettes sonores riches aux harmonies inattendues, s´étalant sur tout le spectre sonore. L´atmosphère est posée et solennelle, le rythme lent et organique. Avec une tension produisant un suspens cinématique.
